Where will the money raised from the 2009 Splash for Cash go to?

The Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children (RIDBC) is aiming to raise over $50,000 during the 2009 Splash for Cash with the money going towards a new service, RIDBC's Teleschool. The RIDBC Teleschool connects children with sensory impairment living in regional areas to RIDBC's Sydney-based team of highly specialised staff using the latest communications technology, including state-of-the-art videoconferencing equipment.

Can I do the swim at another location, or on another day?

You can choose to swim at a location other than the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre, or on a day other than Saturday 28 March 2009, but you will need to ask for a lap count sheet when you register, and to fill it out on the day you swim.

If you are unable to make it to the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre, there are various ‘Splash Out’ events that you can attend. You may also create your own ‘Splash Out’ event.

Do I have to be a good swimmer?

Of course not! Splash for Cash is a fun day where anyone of any ability can join in the fun of the day. Some people will swim as many laps as they can, but there's no pressure to perform, and you can take it at your own pace.

I can't swim in Splash for Cash however I want to help RIDBC - what can I do?

Can I use flotation aids?

Yes. Kickboards, children's floaties, and other aids will be permitted for use.

Is there parking available on the day?

Yes. The Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre allows four hours free parking. If you know you will be there most of the day, let us know, and we can make arrangements.

Will there be food available?

It's best to bring your own food; however there is a kiosk and coffee shop.

Will the Splash for Cash ambassadors be there on the day?

You bet! Susie Maroney, Guy Leech, and James Pittar will all be at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre on Saturday 28 March 2009. The word is they'll all be swimming so don't forget to check out who's in the lane next to you!

Are sponsorships tax-deductible?

Yes – sponsorships over $2.00 are classified as donations and are fully tax deductible.

How many laps do I need to swim for each kilometre?

It depends on the length of the pool. Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre is a standard 50m Olympic pool but many other pools are 25m in length. 1km in a 50m pool is 20 laps; 1km in a 25m pool is 40 laps.
