Security Policy

Donate and sponsor online with confidence

The Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children (RIDBC) wants to ensure that all of our supporters can donate and sponsor online with complete confidence. We have taken every possible measure to give absolute security to our customers in their dealings with us.

How is online security maintained?

The Splash for Cash website is protected by a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificate, which is a necessity for online transactions.

What is a SSL certificate?

A SSL certificate is a method of encrypting data transfer that is transmitted between a web browser and a web server. This helps to protect personal details and credit card details from being intercepted and read by a third party.

The SSL certificate used on the Splash for Cash website is provided by Equifax (Equifax Secure Global eBusiness) and is 256-bit. 256-bit SSL certificates are currently the strongest level of protection available.

How do I know when a web page is secure and protected by a SSL certificate?

There are two ways to tell when a web page is secure and protected by a SSL certificate:

  1. The URL (web page address) begins with the letters 'https' (as opposed to just 'http').
    For example, https://www.splashforcash.com.au/2009/sponsor.php.
  2. The web browser will display a 'padlock' icon, usually on the bottom right corner of the browser window.
