Why donate?

Your donation will assist and support the vital work of the Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children (RIDBC).

RIDBC is one of Australia’s oldest charities, providing a wide range of educational programs for children with hearing and/or vision impairment, including children with additional disabilities.

When a child is first diagnosed with a hearing or vision impairment, often at just a few weeks of age, it is a difficult and confusing time for parents. The expert staff at RIDBC, including special education teachers, audiologist, orthoptists, psychologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech pathologists, are here to offer advice and assistance.

For many children, that assistance becomes an 18 year commitment, as RIDBC continues to support them throughout their education. During that time, RIDBC will have given every one of them the opportunity to realise their potential, and to take their rightful place in the world. Charitable donations above $2.00 are tax deductible.

In 2007 the Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children (RIDBC) introduced the RIDBC Teleschool. Using groundbreaking communications technology, specialist teachers based at RIDBC in Sydney can now reach hearing impaired children and vision impaired children right across Australia and especially in regional and remote areas. RIDBC Teleschool means that all children, throughout all Australia, can receive the quality education they deserve.

Please help support RIDBC through the 2009 Splash for Cash. Donations over $2.00 in Australia are fully tax deductible.
