Splash Rules and Safety

Splash rules

  • A completed lap is recorded after touching the pad at the end of the 50m lane.
  • Teams may swim individually or all at the same time.
  • Each lap will be counted by an official counter lap counter who will record your total number of laps onto a lap count sheet.
  • Your swim must be completed in one attempt.
  • You may stop, rest, eat or drink, but your waist must remain in the water.
  • You may leave the pool to use the toilet facilities.
  • All laps must be completed during the event times.
  • Participants under 16 years of age must provide written consent from a parent or legal guardian.
  • Parents/guardians are responsible for the supervision and safety of their children.
  • Splash for Cash is a smoke, drug and alcohol free event.

Splash safety

  • If you are not a confident swimmer you can use flippers, floaties, pool noodles etc to assist you swim.
  • Listen to your body - If you feel tired take a rest break.
  • Make sure you stay hydrated – keep a bottle of water or a sports drink handy at one end of the lane.
  • Take regular breaks if you are swimming a long distance.
  • Keep your energy levels up – if you plan to swim a long distance keep some high energy snacks at the end of the lane.
  • No diving in the shallow end of the pool.
  • Please be mindful of other swimmers in your lane – keep to the left where possible.

Medical assistance will be available at each pool venue. Qualified lifeguards will be on duty at each official Splash event.
