Why Splash for Cash
RIDBC is Australia’s largest special education and service provider for children with hearing and/or vision loss. With a significant focus on innovation and technology RIDBC strives for the best opportunities and outcomes for people with hearing and/or vision loss, their families and professionals.
RIDBC provides vital support to over 3000 children with significant hearing and/or vision impairment and their families across Australia.
- On average, one Australian child is identified with impaired hearing every day.
- More than 12,000 children in Australia have a significant hearing impairment.
- RIDBC estimates that 4 out of every 10,000 children born in Australia will be diagnosed with severe vision impairment or blindness by their first birthday.
RIDBC relies heavily on fundraising and community support to be able to continue to make a difference in children's lives. In order to maintain its intensive educational and research programs, the organisation needs to raise approximately $2.5 million every month.
All money raised through the Splash for Cash Swimathon will ensure one of Australia’s oldest charities can continue to make a difference in the lives of children with a hearing or vision impairment.
